Treatment duration varies by situation, client and practitioner.
Dogs are usually 45-60 minutes. Cats and small animals are 20-40 minutes. Horses are 60 minutes.
Since animals are much more sensitive to energy than humans, they don’t necessarily need the touch. It’s all about what the animal is accepting of. As treatments progress, your pet may be asking for me to touch them. The pet is never forced to accept Reiki or touching.
First, I set the intention and make a healing energy space through breathing or meditation. I then ask permission from your pet to offer them Reiki. We sit in this space of the energy; the healing process has begun. I maintain this feeling as long as the pet is accepting. Your pet decides when we are finished.
I conclude by thanking the animal for their openness to connecting and receiving the Reiki.
The flow of Reiki energy can be dehydrating, so animals should have access to fresh water and may consume an increased amount of water following a treatment and also have increased elimination.
Beneficial treatment is usually once a week for 5 to 8 weeks. Then, taper down to every 2 weeks and eventually to once a month.
